Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

  1. Starting February 9 of this year, applications are open for the following programs: Fulbright Graduate Student Award 2027-28, Fulbright Graduate Student Award: LLM in International Human Rights Law at the University of Notre Dame 2027-28, and Fulbright Polish Scholar Award 2027-28 (formerly: Senior Award).

  2. Starting May 12 of this year, applications will be open for: Fulbright Junior Research Award 2027-28, Fulbright Research Award at Stanford University School of Medicine 2027-28, Fulbright STEM Impact Award 2027-28, and Fulbright Polish Studies Award 2027-28 (formerly: Slavic Award).

Fulbright Graduate Student Award 2027-28

This program is for Polish citizens interested in pursuing Master’s or Doctoral studies in the USA. It provides funding for the first year of study up to $47,000, with the possibility of extension for a second year. Applications are accepted for all fields of study except for medical studies requiring direct patient contact, LLM (Master of Laws) programs, and MBA (Master of Business Administration) programs. Placement is possible at any accredited higher education institution. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree by June of the departure year. Application period: February 9 – April 27, 2025.

Fulbright Graduate Student Award: LLM in International Human Rights Law at the University of Notre Dame 2027-28

To apply for this one-year scholarship for an LLM in International Human Rights Law, applicants must be Polish citizens and hold a Master of Laws (Magister prawa) degree by June of the departure year. Offered in cooperation with the University of Notre Dame Law School, the curriculum covers international human rights, civil and political rights (US and international), religious freedom, and international criminal law regarding mass atrocities. It also addresses economic and social rights, global poverty, sustainable development, corporate human rights violations, and environmental law. Application period: February 9 – April 27, 2025.

Fulbright Polish Scholar Award 2027-28

The Polish Scholar Award (formerly Senior Award) allows Polish citizens employed at Polish academic and scientific institutions to conduct independent research or combined research-and-teaching projects at a US host institution (university, non-profit research institute, or government agency). The grant lasts 3 to 10 months and is open to researchers and faculty at any career stage post-PhD. All fields are eligible except those requiring direct patient contact. Application period: February 9 – May 18, 2025.

Fulbright Junior Research Award 2027-28

This program is for Polish citizens currently preparing a doctoral dissertation at a Polish scientific institution. The scholarship (4 to 10 months) aims to fund a research project at a US university or non-profit organization related to the applicant's dissertation. All fields are eligible except those requiring direct patient contact. Applicants may also apply for the Stanford University School of Medicine track within this competition. Application period: May 12 – October 12, 2025.

Fulbright Research Award at Stanford University School of Medicine 2027-28

This award is for Polish citizens preparing a doctoral dissertation in cell, molecular, or structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or related fields. The scholarship (8 to 10 months) involves conducting a project proposed by the Rogala Lab that aligns with the applicant’s dissertation. This is part of the Junior Research Award program. Application period: May 12 – October 12, 2025.

Fulbright STEM Impact Award 2027-28

Aimed at Polish citizens leading STEM research projects and employed at Polish academic institutions. This short-term (2-6 weeks) grant supports research, teaching, or combined projects, as well as gaining knowledge in science commercialization or effective grant writing in the USA. It is intended for researchers with experience in project management and supervision. Application period: May 12 – October 31, 2025.

Fulbright Polish Studies Award 2027-28

The Polish Studies Award (formerly Slavic Award) is a teaching grant for staff at Polish higher education institutions specializing in Polish culture (literature, media, art), history, politics, or economics within the European or Polish-American context. Grantees will teach at either The Ohio State University (OSU) or the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Application period: May 12 – September 14, 2025.
