  • We are pleased to announce the Seminar "Building a civil society in Europe", which will be held at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław, Poland, from 20 to 23 September 2017. The Seminar is jointly hosted by the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław and Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

     

    Overview

    The Seminar “Building a civil society in Europe” is organised by the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The objective of the course is to provide participants with a general outline of the civil society institutions introduced in Europe. The lectures will be held in English.

The classes will cover the history of private life in Greece and Rome, focusing on the following issues: childhood, adolescence, sexuality and gender, marriage and family, the status of women, old age and dying; the students will study the most prominent sources that are at our disposal in this field.

Lectures will focus on the history of private life in Greece and Rome, with emphasis on the following issues: childhood, puberty, intimate life, family and marriage, the status of women, old age and dying. Main categories of relevant sources will be discussed, literary and sub-literary (epigraphical, papyrological) as well.
